Allow Me to Introduce Myself…
Hello! As you can see from the hed and dek of this site, my name is Brian Lynn and I’m an online and print editor/writer that has worked at the highest levels of the publishing business for the last decade.
While I’ve always enjoyed reading and writing stories and articles, publishing wasn’t the path I originally steered my career toward in the beginning. Rather, it came about when I hit that post-college-life crossroads and had to make an initial decision as to which direction to go. I answered an advertisement in a Seattle paper that started me down a completely unforeseen and unfamiliar track.
That initial foray into the publishing world has taken me from the shadow of the Space Needle to the outskirts of the sprawling Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex to the south side of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and eventually to a cubicle above Park Avenue in the publishing mecca of the world—New York City.
Along the way I quickly and easily picked up the technical knowledge, which complemented my gut instinct, needed to create compelling digital and print content…including:
- Idea generation, editing and writing for both digital and print platforms (features, columns, blogs, headlines, teaser texts and newsletters)
- Site launching (ground-up redesign, taxonomy development, SEO, UI/UE and QA)
- Site/traffic analytics (interpreting and maximizing traffic, identifying trends)
- Mindful of sponsorship opportunities/business initiatives without sacrificing editorial integrity
- Cross-departmental/organizational communicator (editorial, sales/marketing, developers, designers; clients and sponsors)
The thrill ride of the last ten years has taken me around the country and has given me a glimpse into how people think, interact and relate to the written word in all its forms. Please take a moment and explore more of my work and history:
